Description

This space was created for radiologists to update their knowledge on relevant topics in their specialty, with an emphasis on radioprotection. The course coordinators are renowned professionals in the field:

  1. Hilton Muniz Leão Filho - Radiologist with experience in abdominal and non-cardiac vascular imaging, currently director of Communications at the Brazilian College of Radiology.
  2. Mônica Oliveira Bernardo - Coordinator of the CBR's Radiological Protection Commission, PhD in Sciences and post-doctoral student, also a lecturer at FCMS PUC SP/Sorocaba.
  3. Luciana Costa Silva - Radiologist with master's and doctorate degrees, coordinator of the Specialized Imaging Center in Gastroenterology and Oncology at the Hermes Pardini Institute/MG and Scientific Director of the CBR.

The content is divided into several modules:

Module 1: Physical and Technological Basis in Computed Tomography Explores the fundamental concepts and technology of CT.

Module 2: Dose Optimization with a Focus on Patient Safety and Quality It addresses dose optimization in different areas, such as head and neck CT, cancer patients and mammography/tomosynthesis.

Module 3: Importance of Low Dose CT and COVID-19 CT It highlights the relevance of low-dose CT and the justification and optimization of CT in cases of COVID-19.

Module 4: Importance of the DRL (Diagnostic Reference Level) It explores the use of diagnostic reference levels in adult and pediatric examinations.

Module 5: Ethics in Radiological Protection It discusses ethical issues related to radiological protection in medical diagnosis and treatment.

Module 6: Daily routine and risk management It covers legislation, professional responsibility, protective equipment and quality assurance.

Module 7: Radiological Protection in Pediatrics and Fluoroscopy It focuses on strategies to reduce the dose in pediatric examinations and during fluoroscopy procedures.

Module 8: CT Dose Management System It explains how to implement and use a dose management system in computed tomography.

Module 9: Recurrence of CT scans It deals with the issue of patients undergoing repeated CT scans and how to balance the benefits and risks.

In addition, the course offers lessons prepared by GE Healthcare, with the participation of Pilar Pujadas, customer success leader at GE Healthcare.

This course aims to enable radiologists to apply the principles of radioprotection and dose optimization to ensure patient safety while maintaining image quality. It is a valuable opportunity for professional updating and improvement in clinical practice.
