Description

This space was created to update radiologists, focusing on topics related to the gastrointestinal area, especially with regard to imaging methods for evaluating diseases of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas. The course is coordinated by doctors Daniel Lahan and Maurício Zapparoli. The course is divided into five modules:

Module 1 - Gallbladder and Biliary Tract: This module covers topics such as cholecystitis, cholangitis, gallbladder polyps and cholangiocarcinomas, with a focus on ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) diagnosis. It also includes information on how to perform and interpret magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRI).

Module 2 - Pancreas: This module discusses congenital alterations, acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, neuroendocrine tumors and the staging of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Magnetic resonance imaging protocols for pancreatic assessment are also covered.

Module 3 - Liver: The liver module explores topics such as liver anatomy, diagnosis of incidental liver nodules, liver infections, steatosis, cirrhosis, hepatocarcinoma and percutaneous treatment options for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Pre-metastasectomy assessment criteria and MRI protocols for liver assessment are also discussed.

Module 4 - Spleen: This module covers benign and malignant splenic focal lesions, as well as splenomegaly. The aim is to provide information on how to differentiate these lesions and diagnose the causes of splenomegaly.

Module 5 - Peritoneum: The last module deals with basic concepts of peritoneal anatomy and covers the main benign and malignant lesions related to the peritoneum.

The course includes assessments at the end of each module to ensure participants' understanding of the material. These topics and modules help radiologists update their knowledge and improve their skills in the imaging evaluation of gastrointestinal diseases, providing practical and effective continuing education.
